“With trout season officially opening Saturday Bill Hooper and Blake Mitchell, members of the Stone Mountain chapter of Trout Unlimited, demonstrated the craft of fly-tying Saturday at Brendle’s on Standard Street in Elkin. Observers learned the proper method of tying flies, as well as tips on the best trout fishing in the area and new state regulations. Trout Unlimited’s next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pizza Den and a feature film, ‘The Way of a Trout’ will be shown. TU members are now selling tickets for a fly rod and reel, to be given away at the group’s June meeting. Tickets are available for $1 from any TU member. In addition, a streamside meeting is scheduled to be held at Stone Mountain State Park in June. (Photo by Graham Williams)”
